Terms & Conditions
Last updated:
These terms describe how academies, coaches, and authorized users may access Chess Insight — including game sync from Chess.com and Lichess, AI-assisted analysis, dashboards, and subscription features.
1. Acceptance of terms
These Terms & Conditions ("Terms") govern access to and use of the Chess Insight platform available at chessinsight.in and related services (collectively, the "Service"), operated by Chess Insight ("we," "us," or "our").
By creating an account, starting a trial, purchasing a subscription, or otherwise using the Service, you agree to these Terms and our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.
2. Eligibility
You must be at least 18 years old, or the age of legal majority in your jurisdiction, to register as an academy administrator or coach. If you register on behalf of an academy, organization, or coaching business, you represent that you have authority to bind that entity to these Terms.
Players and students may be added to an academy roster by an authorized coach or administrator. Coaches and academies are responsible for obtaining any consent required under applicable law before adding minors or sharing their game data within the Service.
3. Accounts and security
You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your login credentials and for all activity under your account. Notify us promptly at legal@chessinsight.in if you suspect unauthorized access.
Account information must be accurate and kept up to date. We may suspend or terminate accounts that contain false information or are used in violation of these Terms.
4. Academy and coach responsibilities
If you use Chess Insight as an academy or coach, you are responsible for:
- Managing roster access and assigning appropriate roles to staff and players.
- Ensuring linked Chess.com and Lichess usernames belong to the players you represent or have permission to analyze.
- Using analysis, reports, and AI-generated insights as coaching aids—not as sole determinants of player selection, ranking, or eligibility decisions.
- Complying with applicable education, child-protection, and data-protection laws.
5. Acceptable use
You agree not to:
- Use the Service for unlawful, fraudulent, or abusive purposes.
- Attempt to reverse engineer, scrape, overload, or interfere with the Service or its infrastructure.
- Upload malicious code or attempt unauthorized access to other users' data.
- Misrepresent affiliation with Chess Insight or use the Service to infringe third-party rights.
- Resell, sublicense, or provide unauthorized access to the Service except as expressly permitted by your plan.
We may investigate violations and take action including content removal, suspension, or termination.
6. Intellectual property
Chess Insight and its logos, software, dashboards, documentation, and branding are owned by us or our licensors and protected by applicable intellectual property laws. These Terms do not grant you any ownership in the Service.
You retain ownership of your academy data, roster information, and game content you import or sync. You grant us a limited license to host, process, analyze, and display that content solely to operate and improve the Service as described in our Privacy Policy.
Chess.com, Lichess, and other third-party platforms are trademarks of their respective owners. Chess Insight is not affiliated with or endorsed by FIDE, Chess.com, or Lichess unless expressly stated.
7. Subscriptions and payment
Paid features are offered through subscription plans described on our website or in your account. By subscribing, you authorize us and our payment processor to charge applicable fees on a recurring basis until you cancel.
Billing cycles. Subscriptions renew automatically at the end of each billing period (monthly or annual, as selected) unless cancelled before renewal.
Failed payments. If a payment fails, we may retry the charge, restrict access to paid features, or suspend your account after reasonable notice.
Plan changes. Upgrades may take effect immediately with prorated charges where applicable. Downgrades typically apply at the next renewal unless otherwise stated at checkout.
Prices, plan limits (such as player counts or sync quotas), and features may change. We will provide reasonable notice of material pricing changes affecting active subscriptions.
8. Refunds
Except where required by law, subscription fees are non-refundable once a billing period has begun. If you cancel, you will retain access to paid features through the end of the current paid term.
If you believe you were charged in error, contact legal@chessinsight.in within 14 days of the charge. We will review good-faith billing disputes and may issue credits or refunds at our discretion.
9. Service availability
We strive to keep Chess Insight available and reliable, but the Service is provided on an "as available" basis. Maintenance, updates, third-party outages (including Chess.com, Lichess, cloud providers, or payment systems), and events outside our control may cause interruptions.
We may modify, suspend, or discontinue features with reasonable notice where practicable. Beta or trial features may be changed or withdrawn at any time.
10. Disclaimers
Chess Insight provides AI-assisted game analysis, coaching dashboards, and training insights. The Service does not provide legal, medical, or official FIDE rulings. Engine evaluations, AI summaries, and recommendations are informational and may contain errors.
TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, THE SERVICE IS PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE" WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, WHETHER EXPRESS, IMPLIED, OR STATUTORY, INCLUDING IMPLIED WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, AND NON-INFRINGEMENT.
11. Limitation of liability
TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY APPLICABLE LAW, CHESS INSIGHT AND ITS OFFICERS, DIRECTORS, EMPLOYEES, AND SUPPLIERS WILL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, OR ANY LOSS OF PROFITS, DATA, GOODWILL, OR BUSINESS OPPORTUNITY, ARISING FROM YOUR USE OF THE SERVICE.
OUR TOTAL LIABILITY FOR ANY CLAIM ARISING OUT OF OR RELATING TO THESE TERMS OR THE SERVICE WILL NOT EXCEED THE AMOUNT YOU PAID TO US FOR THE SERVICE IN THE TWELVE (12) MONTHS BEFORE THE EVENT GIVING RISE TO THE CLAIM, OR INR 10,000, WHICHEVER IS GREATER.
Some jurisdictions do not allow certain limitations; in those cases, our liability is limited to the fullest extent permitted by law.
12. Indemnity
You agree to indemnify and hold harmless Chess Insight from claims, damages, losses, and expenses (including reasonable legal fees) arising from your use of the Service, your academy roster or content, violation of these Terms, or infringement of third-party rights, including where you add player data without proper authorization.
13. Termination
You may cancel your subscription or close your account at any time through account settings or by contacting us. We may suspend or terminate access if you breach these Terms, fail to pay fees, or if continued provision poses legal or security risk.
Upon termination, your right to use the Service ends. Provisions that by nature should survive (including payment obligations, disclaimers, limitation of liability, and indemnity) will survive termination.
14. Changes to these Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. We will post the revised version on this page and update the "Last updated" date. Material changes may also be communicated by email or in-product notice. Continued use after changes become effective constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.
15. Governing law
These Terms are governed by the laws of India, without regard to conflict-of-law principles. Subject to applicable law, courts located in India shall have exclusive jurisdiction over disputes arising from these Terms or the Service.
Before filing a claim, you agree to contact us at legal@chessinsight.in to attempt informal resolution.
